Steven Heldt (born 14 May 1986) is a British DJ and music producer based in Bristol, England. Since 2013, he has performed at a wide range of high-profile private events, functions, and cultural institutions across the UK.
Heldt was born in Slough, Berkshire. He began DJing informally at house parties, and by the age of 21 had taken on residencies at local bars. His sets developed a distinctive theme of nostalgia and niche, mixing popular culture with his passion for finding unheard artists across multiple genres. His early career found footing in London's private members' clubs and prestigious hotels.
In 2013, Heldt undertook an internship with the Ministry of Sound compilations team, contributing to the release of several commercially successful albums, including The Sound of Deep House, Marbella Sessions, Chilled House Ibiza, and Superstar DJs. These projects influenced his shift towards longer daytime-oriented DJ sets, and birthed the Journeyman alias.
EARLY LIFE
CAREER
Heldt has gone on to perform at a variety of high-profile events for the likes of, The Royal Family, Henley Festival, Lamborghini, Vogue 100, maintaining regular bookings at Henley Royal Regatta, Emirates Stadium matchday events, and various private parties, touring with a full sound system and lighting.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020–2021, Heldt temporarily paused live performance work and launched a vegan street food business called Coco&Co, operating from Redland Green in Bristol. He returned to a backlog of eager bookings.
Heldt is known for his extended live sets (typically 4–8 hours) and genre-spanning curation, incorporating kisstory, disco, house, garage, grime, techno, funk, hip hop, dubstep, and drum & bass.
One of Heldt's missions is to re-energise the Wedding Reception party, rejecting the blueprint in replace of a sound that is an expression of personalities.
